This is a blog about Mark Trail by his sister Melynda Boswell. September, 24 2008

Opening thoughts:
Heavenly Father we come before you, we want to give you all the praise and glory for what you have done. You have shown us your wonderful and masterful work in all the things that you do. We thank you for the things you have shown us. Thank you for looking beyond our thoughts and looking towards our needs. You are a Great, Mighty, and Wonderful God. Amen.

I had fears and doubts that day and I did not know God's will. I know my fears and doubts do not affect what God has planned to do! God you are God and you are sovereign in everything you do, you are the same yesterday today and tomorrow !

All my thoughts I would like to share with you. Please if you have any comments that you would like to share and that God has laid on your heart, please post them.


I would like to thank the Fire Department and Paramedics from Kuna Idaho, that arrived so quickly on the scene. Mark has receive wonderful care here at St. Luke's Hospital Merdian Id. on Eagle rd. All of the Doctors and Nurse have been great they have shown great compassion for Mark and for our Family. There care coordinator [Nicky and Debbie] has been a great help to Ronnie.I would like to thank all the people that have been praying for Mark from the West coast to the East coast, Canada , England , Australia and places we do not know. I know that every prayer is heard and counts. I also would like to thank everyone for praying for our entire family. Thank you Tiny and David for all the help you did at Mark and Ronnie's home and Chad and Cheryl for mowing Mark's lawn and everyone who brought food to the hospital. Also thanks to all of the men who have had a hand in maintaining Mark's business.

I know that my brother's heart was for the Lord. He had told me several weeks before this accident, that he has longed to be nearer to the Lord and feel his presence as he had in the past. Mark also Stated he wanted to be used by god .Mark's accident happened on Thursday Sept. 25th, 2008.


Sept 25th, 2008:
Mark was planning on going to Montana to work and go hunting with his younger brother Sunnie on Sept. 25th. Before he left Mark had to put a filter in a large 200 gallon paint tank. It was partially full of aluminum paste for painting tanks or Quonset huts. The lid that he put his head into is the size of a 55 gallon drum lid. His daughter Nellie was standing outside with him. He then reached in the tank to change the filter. Nellie tried to put a bucket under his feet and tried to help her Dad out. She tried to pull her Dad out and she was unable to do so. We think his belt buckle was caught under the edge of the lid of the tank.


Nellie kept trying to get her Dad out. Mark finally passed out. Nellie called 911. Then she called me. The fire trucks came first then the paramedics. They had to cut Mark's belt off to get him out. By the time they got there Mark was in Cardiac Arrest. They started CPR on Mark at his home. Then transferred him into the ambulance while still doing CPR. I arrived while they where doing CPR on Mark in the ambulance. I cried out for my niece Nellie. We hugged each other and we both cried. I fell to the ground and cried out to God on behalf of Mark. Nellie is our hero she saved her Dad by calling 911.I want to thank my nice Nellie for calling 911 she is our hero she help save her Dad.


My sister Lilly called me. I told her to go straight to the hospital Mark was on his way. Marks daughter Nellie and I left for the hospital as the ambulance was leaving. Lilly was already there at the hospital when we arrived. Mark's heart started beating 4 minutes after he arrived at the hospital. For about 30 minutes they where doing CPR on Mark in the ambulance and then in the hospital. The medical records show Mark was dead for at least 13 minutes before the firemen arrived on the seen.


His wife Ronnie and daughter Elaine where out of town 8 hours away riding horses. Their daughter Nellie contacted Ronnie and told her to come home and told them what had happened. Ronnie then started driving home immediately. Mark's Mom and Dad, Charles and Rena Trail where in Idaho Falls on their way back to Boise. They where planning on meeting up with Mark on his way to Montana. They had talked to him earlier in the morning. Our Mom had called me and I had to tell her what had happened. They immediately started back home to Boise. They all arrived at the hospital that day.


After Mark's heart started beating again, he was unconscious. Everybody we know that was in town came to the hospital. Henry Boswell SR., Mike Bell, Emily Boswell, and Lenny Slender where trying to clean the aluminum off Mark as the nurses where working on him. All Mark's vital signs where good and his heart was beating on its own. They had to take Mark up to CCU and cool him down with ice. The doctor said cooling him down would help with healing of the brain. They cooled his body down to 32 degrees Celsius for 24 hours. Then his body would have to naturally warm itself up. At this time they had Mark in a drug induce coma and on paralyzing drugs for his Myoclonus jerking caused by lack of oxygen to his brain and spine. To touch Mark's body was shocking it was so cold I had to prepare everybody that came in a head of time so that when they held his hand they wouldn't be scared at the way he felt. This took until Sunday Sept. 28th about 1:00 PM for him to warm up to his natural body temperature. Oh how nice to fell Mark's warm body again.


We got a hold of Nellie, Charles, and Sunnie, his brothers and sister that where out of town and let them know what happened. Sunnie and his wife Billie arrived from Great Falls Montana on that same day. His brother in law Hank (my husband) arrived from North Dakota also. My girls called my daughter Melynda and her husband Sammy Slender (Sammy, Baby (Melynda )
and Gary Slender flew in on Friday this meant a great deal to me. Alex Slender Came in on Saturday
My niece Elaine got a hold of her fiancé Justin Mullins and he flew in right away .

Our Uncle John is a ordained minister and a faithful follower of Christ. I called him that day around 2:00 pm. I wanted to talk to him to hear a word of peace. I cried on the phone to him because the Doctors said that Mark could have brain damage because of the time lapses between when he went into cardiac arrest and when the paramedics got there and started CPR. Uncle John and I prayed and he said he was on his way. Uncle John arrived later on that night.
We are so thankful every time we need Uncle John he is there for us.

Nellie flew into town with her son Charles Thursday the 25th. I went to pick Nellie up at the airport. Nellie had told me how she had prayed with her boy Bill the night before the accident. Bill had asked her "How do you know when God is talking to you?" She told him you would know when God talks to you son. Nellie was supposed to take a lunch to Bill at school and she couldn't make it. Bill wanted to know why and she said that his Uncle Mark wasn't doing well that he was in a accident . She picked Bill up later on that day and Bill had prayed with a teacher that Nellie didn't know. Bill had said that God spoke to him and" God said Mark would be OK ". Nellie came into town with a great peace. On her flight with her little boy Charles, she was holding him and she had thought of God's word and how it says he loves us and knows every hair on our head as she was playing with her boy's hair. Nellie's little boy has a lot of hair.
God knows everyone of them.

Charles (brother) was in Canada, he had the farthest to come. He found it hard to get a flight out. He drove to Montana to pick up his wife Marie and their baby Lizzie. He then continued to Boise from Montana. His mother in law Darcell Wharton gave Charles a verse from the Bible. Psalms 9:11 NIV "Sing praises to the Lord, enthroned in Zion: proclaim among the nations what he has done.


Ronnie's Mom and Dad Levie and Kitty Boswell got into town to be with their daughter Friday night. Dewey Trail got in and so did Nicky Trail and Aunt Madeline and Nicky's daughters Nickie Martin and Rena Trail. Uncle Sunny (David) Trail and his son Sunny and Boo Boo (George) Trail got in also. Tiny and David Beanner(Ronnies Aunt and Uncle) came in. Billy Matincloud came from Denver Colorado. Dewey Colon got in town on Sunday Dewey was a great help in trying to find the right doctors along with Rosie Woods they both were a great encouragement and were try none stop to find the best doctors for Mark. I really want to thank everyone who came in for support and Uncle Dewey for encouraging my dad he needed someone to help him though this and he was there for him .
Mark opened his eyes while Billy Matincloud was talking to him. He opened his eyes for Uncle John, he also opened his eyes for Bob Hazel a good friend and golfing buddy of Mark's.
Cousin Rena and Nickie came in to see Mark they both said Beautiful prayers over Mark they thank God for bringing Mark back to us . Rena said it is not in Gods character to do something Halfway to start something and not finish it. Rena knew God had a plan and it was Great one.{God has used Rena for great things she holds a action every year for orphanages in foreign countries this is her fourth one in Jackson Hole Wyoming. , with donations people have given her this year she raised over seventeen thousand dollars it will all go to children who need it.} We thank you Lord for all the great things you do!
Monday 29th Sept:

The doctor's came in Monday morning and didn't have any good news. Mark should have been reacting by now. His drug induced coma had worn off and so had the paralyzing medication. Mark's body was jerking alot (myclonus jerks) due to lack of oxygen. I left the hospital that morning after talking to the first Doctor and I felt weak in the spirit. I did not want to be there when the Neurologist told my family his assessment of Mark. They said that Mark was in a vegetative state and that there was no chance that he would recover.


Ronnie (his wife) stated to the Doctors that they where wrong and Mark would get better. She feels that the Holy Spirit gave her strength to say that. She has put her faith in God that Mark will get better. She also ask them how long she had before they would do any thing to Mark they told her she would have thirty years with Mark if she wanted as long as the life support would keep him. I was not there but Uncle John was very impressed with how she stood up to these Doctors. She told them your wrong Mark is going to get better. Lilly's faith in God was very strong at this point she had a true peace I could see it in her. I was very weak.


I arrived back at the hospital on the 4th floor around 4:00pm right as the Doctor was talking to my Dad Charles, Brother Charles And Brother Sunnie I could see in their faces the sorrow and tears running down their face's from the news that they had been given. we hug each other and feel to the ground crying. I went back to see Mark and he opened his eyes. We had a glimpse of what God was about to do. God had given us faith to believe that what the Doctors said wasn't true and that Mark was going to be healed. My sister kids go to a Christian School her kids memory verse this week is NIV Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said,"With man this is impossible, but not with God: all things are are possible".


My brother Sunnie after talking to the Doctors went outside onto the grass. His sister Lilly and his wife Billie prayed. Sunnie asked God "Why?" Sunnie had thought how I had told him earlier how God was going to use Mark . Sunnie said to God "Ok God we are giving Mark to you. Do what you will'' While praying Sunnie had a vision. He saw all of us our whole family Ronnie and his girls lifting Mark high above our heads and Mark was on his back gold rays was all around him a bright light was above him he could see Marks face Mark looked totally at peace ,then his spirit started floating to the sky. As his spirit was floating up two huge hands came down and pushed his spirit back into his body. I saw Sunnie later on that night and I had seen the joy in his face. Sunnie then told me what he had seen. A great peace had come over Sunnie. That vision gave me a great peace. Then next morning I called my Aunt Shirley and told her about Sunnie's vision and how Mark had open his eyes I was rejoicing in what God had done, she hung up the phone. and called her girl Gina Martina and shared with her what I told her. Gina called me right away and told me she had prayed that same prayer of Sunnie's vision . How Great is God !


My Dad Charles didn't have a lot of hope but Monday afternoon his whole spirit and attitude changed. I believe the Holy Spirit had given my dad peace and he was trusting in god . He told my mother Rena God had given Mark back to us. He said don't lose hope Rena, Mark is going to be fine, that time was on our side.

We would like to thank everyone that was in town at the time who came to the hospital almost daily. Uncle Henry and Alice Boswell and family, Sherrie and her family, Paula and Chris and their family, Tom, Crystal and Erica, Reata Boswell, Reata Barbar, Michael Bell, Dain and Jennifer Noblitt, Lucy, Chad and Cheryl Leggett, Fred Smith 2nd and Fred Smith 3rd., George Smith and Charlie Smith and their families, Joey and April Smith, Michael Bell and Rickie Steele, Betsy, Art, Meryl, Pinida family , Chirs Alexsander, Chris Myer, and Lenny. I also would like to thank the Woodruf family John ,Montey, George ,George and Reata that came from Twin Falls we appreciate you coming. Thanks to Scott Leggett for the gift basket.
